Media (Images, Videos, Audio)#

Use the media component to add images, videos, and audio files to your page as a stand-alone element.

If you upload an image to the image library or if you add a remote image via URL, you must have permission to share the image on our website. Get tips on finding images.

Some media functionality is only available in the text component. See: Images with Caption and Linked Images

Add an Image from the Media Library#

  1. Go to the Content tab. Add the Media component to your post. block image 1

  2. Click the Select Media button. block image 1

  3. Add an image already uploaded to the website using the Library tab. block image 1

  4. Use the dropdown to select images. Type a keyword in the filename box to help filter the images (optional).

  5. Check the box next to your image.

  6. Click Select Media to add the selected image to your page.

  7. Once selected, a thumbnail will be visible in the media box on your page. block image 1

Upload a New Image#

  1. Go to the Content tab. Add the Media component to your post. block image 1

  2. Click the Select Media button. block image 1

  3. Upload a new image to the website using the Add Image tab. block image 1

  4. Select Choose File.

  5. Upload an image from your computer.

  6. Add alt text and save your image.

  7. Once added, a thumbnail will be visible in the media box on your page. block image 1

Add a Remote Image via URL#

  1. Go to the Content tab. Add the Media component to your post. block image 1

  2. Click the Select Media button. block image 1

  3. Add a remote image (from Instagram, Flickr, etc.) using the Add Remote Image tab. block image 1

  4. Paste the URL of an image into the Remote Image URL box.

  5. Save.

  6. Once added, your image will be visible in the media box on your page. block image 1

Add a Caption to an Image#

Currently, you must use the Text Component to add a caption to an image.

Add a Flickr Slideshow#

If you need login information for Flickr, contact Marketing and Communications.

  1. Add photos to Nashville Public Library's Flickr.

  2. Create a photo album.

Add Slideshow to the Website#

  1. Go to Nashville Public Library Flickr.

  2. Select Albums. block image 1

  3. Click on an album cover to go to that photo album. block image 1

  4. On the album page, copy the URL from the address bar. Save this URL. block image 1

  5. Go to the Content tab. Add the Media component to your post. block image 1

  6. Click the Select Media button. block image 1

  7. Select Add Remote Image, then paste in the URL that you grabbed from the Flickr embed code. Save Remote Image. block image 1

  8. If successful, you should see your slideshow display in the Media Reference field. block image 1

  9. Save the page. Review the slideshow to ensure it looks correct.

Add a Video#

Upload Videos to YouTube or Vimeo#

Videos posted on the website need to be hosted on NPL's YouTube. Videos hosted on other YouTube/vimeo channels may used, when these are relevant to the post, and appropriate to be re-used by NPL.

Add Video to the Website#

  1. In the content area, select the Media component. block image 1

  2. Under Media Reference, click the Select Media button. block image 1

  3. Select Add Video. Paste the URL for the video on YouTube. To get the URL, find your video on YouTube then copy the link from the address bar. block image 1

  4. Click Save Video. If successful, you’ll see your video in the Media Reference field. block image 1

  5. Save page.

Add an Audio File#

  1. In the content area, select the Media component. block image 1

  2. Under Media Reference, click the Select Media button. block image 1

  3. Select Add Audio. Then click Choose File to upload your media file. block image 1

  4. Once your file is uploaded, click Save Audio. If successful, you’ll see your audio file in the Media Reference field. block image 1

  5. Save the page.
