Add a New Blogger#
Adding a new bloggers is a two-step process. First, create a Drupal account for the new user. Second, create a person node that will display as their author block at the end of each blog post.
- Shared Systems creates new users and person nodes.
- MarCom sends login information to the new blogger.
Create a New Drupal User#
When MarCom sends us a request for a new blogger:
- Log in to the library website: library.nashville.org/user.
- Click People > Add User.
- Fill out the form. In the "Role" section, select the "blog contributor" checkbox.
- Save.
- Email MarCom the username and password for the new user. Instruct the new user to change their password immediately.
Create Person Node#
MarCom should send a picture and a blog bio. Use that info to create the person node:
- Log in to the library website: library.nashville.org/user.
- Click Content > Add Content > Person.
- Fill out the form with this info:
- Personal Information
- Avatar
- Blog Bio
- Save.
Blog Image and Bio Specs#
Author Photo#
- Dimensions: Image must be 85 x 85 pixels.
- Headshot: If you opt to use a headshot, select an image suitable for representing the library. Your headshot does not have to be a photograph. You may also use a cartoon / drawing of your face / head.
- Other icon: If you would like to use an image other than your face / head, please create your image and run it by the web team. We’re not opposed to cats, dogs, parrots, marmots, inanimate objects, or other favorite images, but we don’t want to get too silly.
Author Bio#
- Display name: Use only your first name or your first and last name. Choose whichever is most comfortable for you.
- Bios should be written in third person.
- Length: Bios need to be 2-3 lines of text. Write your bio in Word so you can adjust to get the right character count. This was the recommendation from our designer and it is where the character count limits come from.
- Min characters with spaces: 202
- Max characters with spaces: 296
